Donate Your Time to Help Others in Miami
When asked for tips on how to emotionally handle life’s most difficult challenges — such as the economic crisis that is affecting so many of us — experts agree on at least one idea: Volunteerism. Helping out in the community is an uplifting experience, providing the chance to truly make a difference in the lives of others.
The Jewish Volunteer Center of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation offers a wide range of opportunities for hands-on volunteerism throughout the year for people of all ages. The JVC serves as a central clearinghouse for service projects, collecting information about the need for volunteers at Federation’s beneficiary agencies across Miami-Dade County and fostering projects to meet those needs.
Through these service projects, participants can perform a mitzvah, meet other volunteers and use their talents for the greater good. Many projects are geared for families, enabling parents to teach their children important lessons of tzedakah (social justice).
Examples of JVC projects include visiting lonely seniors at home or patients in the hospital, assisting preschool teachers in the classroom, collecting food for the JCS Kosher Food Bank, and much more.
Whether you wish to volunteer alone or as part of a group, whether you are looking for a one-time volunteer project or an ongoing commitment, the JVC can link you with the opportunity that matches your skills and interests.
