Fund for Victims of Terror Provides Critical Assistance to Israelis

Federation’s longtime overseas partner, The Jewish Agency for Israel, has responded immediately to the ongoing attack on Israel by Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Through its Fund for the Victims of Terror, which is supported with special allocations from Federation, The Jewish Federations of North America and our extraordinary system, Israelis experiencing trauma and loss due to the recent bombings are already receiving grants to help with immediate expenses. Every victim of terror who has been directly impacted from the recent rocket attacks, whether due to an injury, the death of a family member or damage to their home, is identified and receives financial support — often within 24 hours.

During the first 72 hours of the crisis, The Jewish Agency distributed 50 checks, totaling approximately $60,000. This financial support is used to cover shiva costs, days off from work or housing repair. Recipients also benefit from professional guidance from Jewish Agency employees who help them apply for compensation from the government and relevant insurances. Beyond the initial trauma, additional programs such as respite camps for children victims of terror and psychosocial therapy are also offered.

Your donation to the Annual Greater Miami Jewish Federation/UJA Campaign supports Federation-funded agencies including our overseas partners. These organizations can respond to crises in a moment’s notice because of the longstanding and critical infrastructure that exists in ordinary and extraordinary times. We remain grateful for your meaningful help, which allows us to continue this holy work.
