Tzedakah Fund Tribute Cards Make a Difference
If you are looking for a meaningful way to extend your sympathy to a mourner, send wishes for recovery from illness or congratulate someone on an important event or milestone — and also help other Jewish people in need — there is no better way to do so than by purchasing a Tzedakah Fund tribute card.
For a contribution of $18 or more to the Greater Miami Jewish Federation’s Tzedakah Fund, a beautiful tribute card will be sent to your intended recipient, inscribed with your personal message of good wishes. (If you prefer, we can send you a blank card that you complete and mail.)
Proceeds from the sale of the tribute cards benefit the Tzedakah Fund, which enables the Federation to respond to the emergency needs of Jews in our community. Nearly $25,000 in assistance is provided each year through the Fund, with the majority of income derived from the sale of the tribute cards.
The Fund may help pay the rent for a person facing eviction or the utility bill of someone faced with shutoff of electricity. It may help to provide food vouchers, emergency medicine or medical equipment. Approximately 30 indigent Jewish burials are also funded each year through the Tzedakah Fund. Such assistance truly represents acts of tzedakah — Hebrew for justice — as it allows every Jew to maintain his or her personal dignity.
To understand the impact you can make on others, read an excerpt from a letter from an individual who received assistance through the Tzedakah Fund:
”We want to thank you and the Greater Miami Jewish Federation for your kind assistance. In truth it is quite difficult being in the position of having to put one’s hand out for help. At the same time, after being involved in a hit-and-run accident and left with exorbitant car repairs, I don’t know how we would have managed to pay our rent these two months without the generous assistance of the Federation. May you continue to be able to give to those in need.”
